Early today I saw a political cartoon in a magazine that looked something like this:
There was a list of the Seven Deadly Sins on a large marble tablet.
Next to the word 'Greed', there was a large, red asterisk.
Below the tablet, in similar red script was printed 'downgraded'.
Usually, political cartoons are drab and boring references to something idiotic or hypocritical a particular politician said that week, but this cartoon really struck me. I found it rather epitomic of the West's present dismissal of our problem with greed. Writing it off as an 'everybody is doing it' offense. This is the exact philosophy that has run the American economy into the ground, ubiquitously perpetuated by both the consumer and the corporation. Everyone is out to fuck everyone else over. I wonder if a paradigm shift to mutual respect, modesty and sustainability is even possible. It just seems like we are waiting for some sort of deity to swoop down from space and fix all the shit we've broken and tell us what to do.
When really it's just as simple as individuals striving to behave in a respectable and moral fashion.-Fidel Ca$hflow
